I’m pretty sure other new moms can feel my pain when I say: when I went to Babies R Us to register I was like “UH… ?!%&$” That is one of the biggest stores I’ve ever been in and I felt so overwhelmed with all the products available. I immediately turned to my friends for suggestions on everything. I actually picked out the swing myself though and am very happy with it. Happy enough that it landed a spot as a personal fave. I picked it because it’s compact. We live in the city and travel a lot and I didn’t want a huge honkin’ swing.
What I ended up liking most about the Boppy Swing is the music. It’s gentle and actually pleasant. It doesn’t make me want to tear my hair out when it’s played over and over; what more can you ask for? The only thing I have to put out there is that it only swings in one direction. I’ve seen some really fancy ones out there, much larger mind you, that swing back and forth or side to side. But, if you’re looking for a small, simple swing that works… this is for you.

P.S. If your baby is on the larger side (Graham is a chunk) the head support pillow comes out and provides more room. One review on the Babies R Us site said that her 13 pound baby looked like he was going to break the swing but our G is 16 pounds already and still seems very comfortable in it. FYI!

Nice work! You should become a consultant!

I will comment so that someone other than your husband has participated.
I think we have the full-size version of this swing. Norah liked it until she was about 8 months. I do wish they made swings that could be plugged into an electrical outlet – we went through tons of batteries between the swing and our two bouncy seats that vibrated and there’s nothing worse than trying to change batteries while your child screams. We were lucky to have friends-of-friends who live in a Chicago condo with their twins. They were desperate to clear out all their baby gear ASAP, so we ended up on the receiving end of some great gently-used items.

Do they make these in adult-size? maybe with an ipod hook-up? i’d totally spring for one on the rooftop!

We have the same swing! Sebastien was (is?) a chunk too (15 lbs at 3 months and 18 lbs at 4 months. Now he’s 24 lbs at 9 months). When he was like 5 months, I started using this just for him to sit up in and no longer swing. I also fed him his first cereal in it until he fit better in his high chair. And I totally agree on the music. The swing has now been put away for good, but I do miss the music!

Betsy and Kim… glad you like this too! Bets, it must be because you have two children swinging at once!! We are still on our first set of batteries. Your kids are really close in age right? God bless you managing two little ones!! I don’t know how people with twins do it either.
