I hinted in my last post that I had a blog I was secretly loving and now I’m letting the cat out of the bag.  You all know I am a wanna-be fashionista.  By that I mean I love fashion but it doesn’t come effortlessly to me.  I have to scour magazines, people watch (which is awesome living in downtown Chicago,) and keep a close eye on celebrities through People.com   Ha!  There, I justified all the time I spend on people.com

Anyway, I am a subscriber to Lucky magazine and that is how I came across the blog Cupcakes and Cashmere.  Emily, the creator, is obviously way cooler than I am and I am in awe.  She gets items and trips gifted to her so that she will review them.  She created a bag for Coach.  I mean, seriously people.  Her style is sometimes way too out there for me.  In my ripe old age of 29 I’ve realized I’m mostly preppy and not that edgy.  It’s sometimes a bit disappointing but why not stick with what works right??  Her style is ecclectic and there are many looks she rocks that I could never hope to pull off.  For example: http://cupcakesandcashmere.com/studies-in-sequins/  I would just look ridiculous if I tried to wear that to the elementary school I worked in.  She makes it look effortless and cool.  Sigh.

Other than taking really cool photos of her really cool outfits she also posts recipes, (where I came across the chocolate chocolate chip cookies) and she gives hair and make up tips.  My favorite of all-time is the smoky eye how-to.   I was clueless how to achieve a not-trying-too-hard smoky eye until I found her easy to follow instructions.  I’ve definitely worked that a time or two when going out on the town.  It’s just an awesome site and gives me a little inspiration to maybe throw on an extra accessory or something when normally I’d skip it.  Or put a little braid in my hair rather than just a plain pony-tail.  Come on, it’s rough sometimes being a working mom!  I bet she’d cut me a little slack.  ;)   Hope you enjoy cruising the site as much as I do.

How did I not know about Miss Emily before now?? Thank you so much for sharing! I just spent the past 20 minutes reading her most recent posts. I’m obsessed.

PS She is wearing a Madewell dress in a recent post…I happened upon this store when I was at a random mall in New Jersey (a ridiculously great mall I might add) for work. Same CEO as J.Crew, but trendier and a little more fun (in my opinion). I’m ridiculously proud of myself for having purchased a sparkly cardigan there which is about as close as I will get to sequins for day :)

Eri Sist, so glad you like the blog… just don’t forget about mine too. ;) And give me a LITTLE credit… of course I know what Madewell is. Jessica Simpson and Audrina Patridge were in a “fashion faceoff” on People because they were wearing the same floral Madewell romper. How embarrassing for them! Although I know what it is, I’m not cool enough to own anything from there yet. Next time your sistie is looking to get me a present you could hint at that… ha! So jealous of your sparkly cardigan, and your wardrobe in general obvi.

Personal Faves will always be at the top of my blog list, no worries :) And yes I need to give YOU more credit because I was behind on the Madewell tip. I would never want to be in a fashion faceoff with Audrina Patridge’s body!

I am totally a wannabe fashionista, too! While I am also preppy, not edgy, I get inspired to mix it up sometimes by looking at magazines. My new love is accessories — necklaces, scarves, hats. Makes plain outfits look a little less plain, you know? Congrats again on expecting Baby #2! I’m sure you’re rocking the maternity wear. ;)
