One of the best sushi places in Chicago, and certainly the friendliest.  Located at 1933 S. Indiana Ave., we started coming here a lot when my brother-in-law lived at 18th and Indiana.  We started going so frequently we are now friends with the three owners (thus Triad) Diwei, Jeff, and Rick.  Gotta give a shout out to the rest of the staff as well.  Caitlin is perhaps the nicest server ever.  Really just one of the nicest people ever.  Side note: when I was pregnant she made me my own special menu of things I could order, substitutions I should make for things I couldn’t have, etc.

Rick, Diwei, Jeff... owners of Triad. Good people.

OK, well obviously part of what makes Triad so great is the people.  Be prepared to do a sake bomb or shot of Jameson if you’re up for it with Diwei.  The other reason we keep going back to Triad: obviously, the sushi.  My personal faves: the phoenix maki (eel, shrimp, good crunchy stuff), winter maki (eel, cream cheese, other good stuff), Triad maki (if you like a little spicy,) and the spicy salmon.  My husband’s personal fave is volcano.  My brother-in-law, who originally discovered this South Loop gem, could eat the spicy tuna every day.  I think it just goes to show that you really can’t go wrong with whatever you order.  Seriously.

If you go on a Friday night, there’s a good chance I’ll be there.  Otherwise… give my best to Diwei and order a few sake bombs in my honor.

We took our son here when he was only 2 weeks old. I wanted some sushi!!

I’m going to try the Honey Snap Out of It immediately, sounds great, even though I am a Clinque girl at heart.
The tongue scraper, my daughter couldn’t live without
Panera….the cinnamon scone is to die for if you can’t get the cinnamon bagel.
The swing….Honey, when my kids were babies, we had to crank up the swing, literally so anything looks better to me, I’ll keep it in mind if I ever get a grandchild..hint. hint Mandy, Phillip.
    Good Job.
